Description

I accidentally dropped my thermal paste on the mobo CPU VRM :( I will have to get it covered or removed. Wires can be banded up later. This GPU desperately needs support, working on some ways to get it lifted.

It's good for my physics simulations and gaming.

CPU is really fast, kind of insane this exists. 4.9GHz stock and 5.3GHz OC. I run with a slight overclock of 5.05GHz with ease. GPU is less impressive. barely makes 60FPS with everything maxed out on 4k. I think I will upgrade down the line. (Also VRAM is not enough!)

Got most of the components with really great deals. Pretty happy about it :)

Could do better with the PSU. 850W would be ideal since 750W is barely making it. Didn't think this would draw this much power.

Overall very happy about my first PC XD.

Part Reviews

CPU

Great CPU, reasonable price

CPU Cooler

Not too impressive. Sometimes makes some noice

Thermal Compound

Seems to work very well as expected.

Motherboard

Very good board for the price. Great features, good enough VRM for the money.

Memory

Got this thing on such low price lol.

Storage

Works well as advertised.

Video Card

Amazing card for the price. I think it's the best 3080 for the value.

Case

The bottom plate cannot be removed easily. Almost had to tear the whole thing down to make room for 2 extra fans. Don't expect this to fit 7 fans very easily.

Power Supply

Ok PSU, but there are better ones for the price, namely 850Ws.

Operating System

Works well. Upgraded to Win10 pro for free.

Case Fan

Not very quiet. Sometimes fans can be displaced and look strange while spinning and make a lot of noice.

Monitor

Good entry-level 4k screen. Great color gamut, good latency, lots of features. Very competitive.

Mouse

Very customizable and comfortable. But could be better aesthetically. Too much "gamer looking" but not a lot of RGB. There are better options for both minimalism or gaming.

"Very fast SSD for the price."

Besides the snark comment, cool build man!

Thanks! Really enjoying it so far. To me the SSD is actually relatively cheap considering some PCI-E 3.0 SSDs prices higher. I know it's still expensive and that's the world we are living in now. At least RAM price has come down quite a bit XD.

No worries! Not too sure what’s been benchmarked best in performance anymore, but I will say that Sabrent released a second version of their Gen 4 device. Hopefully there’s a whole lot more where that came from to broaden the market and open up lower prices.

How was the 750w psu doing with 3090 and 5900x. got the same CPU, but not sure what PSU to go for if were to get a 3080 or 3090.

Barely cutting it. At load with OC it draws 700w at peaks. If you want more headroom, I'd suggest at least 850W. The price diff is small anyway.

GPU is the biggest problem, as Nvidia cards sometimes allow extreme boosts way over their limit, even without any overclocking. There are times my card spike up over 400W. 850W would be a minimum for 3090. 1000W would be ideal but it's too expensive.

With 5900x, I'd say: 650W for 3080 no OC. 750W for 3080 light OC / 3090. 850W for 3080 safe OC / 3090 light OC. 1000W for 3090 safe OC. Anything over that is overkill unless you are going for some crazy sli/workstation setup.

In the near future I will be assembling a new computer based on the Fractal Design Meshify C Mini Dark Tempered Glass computer case. Inside, there will also be an ASUS GeForce RTX 3080 TUF GAMING OC graphics card, an AMD Ryzen 9 5900X processor and Arctic Liquid Freezer II 2x120mm water cooling (mounted on the top of the computer case). How is your water cooling doing in this PC case? What are the temperatures at rest and under load? What does it look like in Prime95 or other programs?

Hey! I installed 3 extra fans to make sure the case is cooled. For thermals please refer to the description above.

Have you tried a little of OC with your Motherboard + CPU combo, im buying that exact combo and i wanna see how good this combo is

Not exactly sure what you mean, but so far things are great with OC

Hey! Awesome build. Have you had any issues with the 750w PSU? I'm building a similarly spec'd PC this summer and am looking for some positive feedback for 5900x and 3080 on a 750w PSU. Thanks!

did you have to update the bios on the mobo for it to work with the 5900x?
